Privacy Policy
Last updated August 30, 2026 — applies to the DetoxNexus Chrome extension and the DetoxNexus mobile app, which share the same account and backend.
What DetoxNexus is
DetoxNexus helps you limit time on specific apps and websites you choose, using budgets (opens per day, minutes per visit, cooldowns), scheduled Focus Periods, and exceptions that require approval from an accountability partner you've added yourself.
What we collect, and why
DetoxNexus does not track your general browsing. The Chrome extension only looks at the domain of a page when deciding whether it matches a site you've explicitly added to your own blocklist — it never reads page content, form input, or browsing on sites you haven't listed.

Where it's stored
All of this is stored in Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) under your own account, in the same project used by the DetoxNexus mobile app. It is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party. It is visible only to you and to the specific accountability partners you've chosen to add.
Chrome permissions this extension uses

tabs | To redirect a tab to the blocked page when a site should be blocked, and to check already-open tabs after a Focus Period starts. |
alarms | To periodically re-check open tabs and refresh your synced settings, since a browser extension's background process doesn't run continuously. |
idle | To stop counting a site as "in use" once you've stepped away, so idle time isn't charged against your limits. |
Your choices
- Remove any domain from your blocklist, or sign out, from the extension's popup or options page at any time.
- Manage or remove accountability partners from the DetoxNexus mobile app.
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us below — this removes your data from both the mobile app and the extension, since they share one account.
Children's privacy
DetoxNexus is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
